Les Deux CopinesLes Deux Copines

It's time to get blinged out ladies—and get yourself to a store called Les Deux Copines in Burlingame, Calif. This store is very near and dear to my heart because it is owned by close family friends, Rebecca and Melissa. They are very sweet, super helpful and friendly. And they have amazing, knowledable employees who are also willing to help with your fashion needs.

A few weeks ago, the store had a trunk show featuring the work of jewelry designer Julez Bryant. All I can say is … wow. Her creations totally justify her company tag line, “Be your own sugar daddy.”

The designer specializes in gold, and has some absolutely amazing pieces.

Julez creates spectacular pieces.Julez creates spectacular pieces.

However this kind of quality and creativity does not come cheap, so any boyfriends, fiancées, husbands or any parents of teenage daughters they adore should start saving their money now. Prices for these pieces start at $200 for a pair of earrings and go all the way up to a  $20,000 ring. (I usually don’t write about stuff this expensive but the Julez creations are just so cool.)

Jewelry will never go out of style, so splurging on something so elegant and simple could be totally worth the purchase price. (Hint, hint, to a dad editing his daughter’s blog: Something from Julez wouldn’t be a bad eighth grade graduation present.) As I always say, I’d rather have quality than quantity.‚—Anna Rose

Finding the right size means not forcing it.

June Blog: Making Sense of Size

Hello to all my fabulous ladies. I hope you’re enjoying your summer so far, as I am enjoying mine. I want to talk about a topic that might make some of you uncomfortable, but it's totally worth it.

Let's say that one day you are out shopping. You see someone try on a dress or some other article of clothing. You think it looks great on her, so you take a big leap of faith and try it on yourself. You choose a “small,” which is same size you think you look and feel best—but you know it's not your size. It feels tight. It feels uncomfortable. Neither comfortable nor confident in the size you “think” makes you look and feel best, you leave the store without a purchase.

How can you fix this problem? Simple … go up a size! I know in the moment you might feel horrible, but sweetie, c'mon, you know the true size you are. And trust me, it will definitely make you feel more confident with your body type in the end. And like one of my all time fashion idols, Joan Rivers says, "Just because it zips doesn't mean it fits."

Latest Blog: Ideal for Shopping

If you’re going to San Francisco with your family, friends or whoever, I suggest heading to the Haight Asbury District. This neighborhood is sure a bet for fashion mavens with a broad range of tastes. While I was there this weekend, I found this great, affordable store called IDEAL.

IDEAL has a wide selection of modern clothing and even handbags. I talked to the woman at the store who does all the buying—unfortunately I did not catch her name—but she was sweet and helpful. I would say that the prices of the store are low to moderate, with the priciest item being around $150. For sure, it’s an "ideal" place to shop, and one that won’t make your wallet skinny.

Prom Time is Prime Time at B Chic Fashions

Scala prom dress, $138.00 from B Chic Fashions.

With prom season upon us, I want to talk to all of my fabulous readers about prom dresses! No matter if you are a junior or a senior in high school, your prom night will be one memory you definitely will be able to tell your grandchildren about.

Recently, I walked around the Carlmont Shopping Center in Belmont, Calif., after school and happend to stumble across this exciting new prom dress boutique called B Chic Fashions. The owner, Andree Charonis, said the shop had only been there for a few months, but that she has been selling prom dresses for more than two years.

The store caters to young women of all shapes and sizes. Let’s say there’s a dress you want in the store, but it’s only there in a Size 6 and you happen to be a Size 8. Andree will actually order the dress for you in your size, and if you have a last-minute change of heart you are not obligated to buy it. What this means is that you don’t have to settle for something you don’t want just because what you really want isn’t in the size you need on the day you see it.

The store features designers such as Sherri Hill and Tony Bowls. Prices are moderate, mostly in the $500 and below range.

So, no matter what your shape or size, B Chic Fashions can cater to your specific needs and desires. That will go a long way toward making your prom night a memory that lasts forever.

Latest Blog

Hello again, to all readers,

While some of you may have been vegetating last Friday night, or maybe doing something with your friends, I made a new fashion discovery. However, the discovery was by surprise. Here is how it all started.

It was six o’clock and I was in the Kate Spade handbag store just checking out the goods. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a mother and daughter duo. The daughter had on a pink floral dress. The sales associate next to the young lady was complementing the girl as much as she possibly could to make the $400 sale.
